• Paris Discovery Tour + Picasso Museum (8 hours) Description

    The purpose of the private guided Paris Discovery Tour + Picasso Museum is to give you an overview of all the most spectacular and renowned monuments and historical sites of the city (it will help you to get your marks and make your plans for the next days) and introduce you to the work and the lifestyle of the world-renowned artist Pablo Picasso.

     

    Your private, licensed driver-guide will pick you up at your hotel in a very comfortable, air-conditioned Mercedes minivan (or similar).

    After a brief introduction to the architecture of Paris so that you may better appreciate the beauty of the city, you will start your journey at the geographical center of Paris, the Opera Garnier (that inspired the “Phantom of the Opera”), then drive to place Vendôme (a jewel of architecture from the 17thC), the Palais Royal (former Cardinal Richelieu’s palace), the Ile de la Cite where you will make a stop to have a private guided visit of the cathedral Notre-Dame, the Conciergerie (former seat of the Royal power), the Hotel de Ville (Town of Hall) and the Ile St Louis.

    It is now time for a nice lunch in a typical French restaurant or bistro (not included in the price – your guide will choose a place that will suit your expectations).

    After this relaxing break, you will continue your journey driving to one of the most interesting areas of Paris: the Marais district (Place des Vosges and rue des Rosiers), that from the 14th C on became the residence of the King, rich noble families and the Jewish community. You will stop for a small walking tour with your guide before enjoying a private visit of the Picasso Museum where you will discover a rich collection of Picasso’s works. For its quality and scope as well as the range of art forms it encompasses, this collection is the only one in the world to present both Picasso’s complete painted, sculpted, engraved and illustrated œuvre and a precise record—through sketches, studies, drafts, notebooks, etchings in various stages, photographs, illustrated books, films and documents—of the artist’s creative process. This outstanding collection has conferred a critical international role for the Picasso Museum in presenting Picasso’s work and furthering research into his life and work and modern art in general.

    The rich history of the artist’s painted works is retraced through nearly 300 paintings held in the Musée Picasso Paris collection today a superb selection of 250 sculptures, ceramics and other objects that had been harboured in Picasso’s various studios for many years.

    Due to the fact that the Picasso Museum is allowing only an hour and 15 minutes maximum of private visit, your private guide will accomodate the visit according to your wishes.

     

    After the discovery of the Picasso Museum, your guide will cross the Seine River to continue your journey on the Left Bank , the old Paris , the scholastic Paris with the Latin Quarter (student quarter), the Sorbonne (university), the Pantheon (rest place of the great men of France), the Luxembourg Garden (most spectacular park in Paris with the Statue of Liberty), the Church St Sulpice, the  Saint Germain district ( home of many jazz musicians, writers and painters since the roaring twenties), the French Institute (« Académie Française »), the Lovelock Bridge, the Orsay Museum (outside visit), the Concorde square ( the largest square in Europe where the French Revolution took the life of the King and the Queen), the Champs Elysées (most famous avenue in the world), the Arc de Triomphe (Napoleon’s Triumph Arch), the Grand Palais, the Invalides, the Eiffel Tower where you will make a stop for photos before driving to Montmartre , the village of the artists (Renoir, Picasso, Braque, Toulouse Lautrec, Gauguin, Van Gogh,…) and highest place in Paris (with an incredible view) where your guide will take you for a small walking tour to discover its unique scenery, the famous place du Tertre with its cafés and shops and the eternal white Sacre Coeur basilica before driving you back again to your hotel.

    We suggest you to finish this day filled with discoveries and emotions is a nice glass of chilled white Burgundy or a cup of hot chocolate with a nice French pastry.
